Library and Computer Center Services

The Edward B. Wells Library at Malibu High School is committed to providing students and staff with the resources and skills necessary to succeed. The library is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., and on Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.

MHS has over twenty thousand books. The library also subscribes to Questia School, a forty-seven thousand volume electronic research collection, bringing the library’s total offerings to over sixty-seven thousand volumes. The twenty thousand-volume physical collection is part of the SMILENet, SMMUSD’s interlibrary system, giving students access to over one hundred thousand books.

The library also subscribes to information databases, providing users access to over two hundred newspapers and seven hundred magazines. The Gale databases, Proquest and Questia School are available both at school and off campus. The library has served as a spearhead for technology use at MHS and will continue to instruct MHS students and staff in the use of technology in accessing, analyzing and presenting information.

All Malibu High students have library privileges. Books may be checked out for three weeks and renewed for one more week. Late books may be subject to a fine. Lost books must be replaced at the borrower’s expense.

The library rules are as follows:
  • Have respect for others
  • Speak quietly
  • Do eat or drink in the library (except water)

Students using campus computers are required to review the District’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and have a current AUP on file with the librarian.

Failure to follow any rule may result in the loss of library privileges
